HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A grandmother, who was accused of murdering her husband after which setting her home on fireplace when she was arrested, has been discovered not responsible.Janet Alexander, 72, was acquitted Tuesday of the homicide of Lionel Alexander, 64. The trial lasted six days.It was April 27, 2018, when Houston police had been known as to a house on Valley Wind Drive on town’s east aspect.Lionel Alexander had been stabbed to demise. Janet instructed police the couple had been arguing and issues escalated.He had a knife, she stated, and he or she took management of it. She stated she acted in self-defense after many years of abuse.Houston police confirmed they’d been known as to the house beforehand. An post-mortem revealed Lionel Alexander was stabbed 89 instances.A 12 months later, a grand jury indicted Janet Alexander, and when police went to serve the arrest warrant in April 2019, she set herself and her home on fireplace, almost burning it to the bottom.Alexander’s prison protection legal professional, Joe Wells, stated the years of struggling led to what he stated was a suicide try on the time of her arrest.
